After a Long think , I have decided to close down the BBS for good...
I do not have enough time to continue running the BBS. There are lots
of software problems that keep croping up, and it's just not being used enough
probably mainly due to these bugs, but I don't have the time to fix them. I am
going to put the BBS into it's final rest and move onto other things.
It's been fun.. have fun everyone and good bye

Just a few minor updates to the site, the Specification page has been
updated to reflect the current system spec. I am working on getting the
QWK offline mail system working again (looks like yet another system that
doesn't like lots of free space :( ).. if anyone out there knows of an
OS/2 naitive QWK door could you please email me it's details.. thanx.

I have given the system a long overdue hard drive upgrade. It now has a newish 3.2 Gig Quantum HD and a fresh install of the OS also.
Due to the upgrade some of the software has stopped working... The main trouble makers were/are, Xenia (the mailier) and GEcho (The mail tosser),
think they may be in it together, however I have managed to get Xenia to work by temporarily filling the HD with rubbish to reduce the
size of the free space :).
GEcho on the other hand isn't going to run what so ever.. so I have installed FastEcho and am very happy with it. Also I am looking to replace
Xenia with BinkleyTerm 2.60. At present the BBS system has been running with DOS software, making
it slow and CPU intensive, now I am using Native OS/2 versions of FastEcho, Binkley (when I get it working :) ), EleBBS and the various
different archiving software, making the system run quite a bit faster.
Also hopefully with NTL buying out C&W recently cable modem should
soon be here (YAY!) which will then hopefully allow me to open up telnet access to the BBS via the web. If not, I guess I'll either
have to plump for a leased line (gulp) or ADSL (if I don't trip over my beard first :) ). Sorry it has been such a long time since I last
did an update, I have been very busy (as are most sysops), but the system is NOT dead, it's still going. Go on.. payus a visit.

I have found a problem with the OS/2 version and my BBS setup with the mailbox. However using the DOS version of
EleBBS has solved this for now, hopefully this problem will go away with the next release of EleBBS (27th June)

I have updated the BBS software to EleBBS. This is an OS/2 native program which should boost performance quite a bit

Just found and fixed a problem in the PCDOS file area. The links only gave access to the files 1,2 & 4 for Telix. I have now fixed the link for file 3, so the full program can now be downloaded.

I have added an online chat feature to the web site. You can now chat to people all over the world in realtime! The feature does require that you use a JAVA enabled web browser. Goto the "Fido Chat" section to give
it a try. Cheers to Paul Thexton for the help with the 'modifications' to the remote chat window JAVA Script.

Have made MANY alterations to the web site. Removed some dead links, tidied some stuff up, and modified the graphics in the selector frame to make them more pleasant for people in lower resolutions.

Gordon Hudson is now the Atari Sysop of the system. He has already
contributed and helped with the system and after closing his own BBS down
it seems logical that he should help out with the Atari Section on The
Crow as neither myself or Andy have much time to work with the Atari
computers (and I am very out of touch with the good ole days).

I am working on a new style for the navigator frame (it's just a tad big on a 640x480 screen). I'll try to re-do it in a smaller easier to read style. and add some more news more often.

There is now a new tracker modules file area in the filebase. This area is where new modules will appear, there are at present two very good ones in there, more to come. Thanx to Gordon Hudson for the two he uploaded.

I have added a pause after the Quick Scan option in the messagebase. Thanks to Kerry Rushton for suggesting it and for testing it for me. Instead of just quickly blanking the page, it will wait for a keypress first.

Updating Web Page for once :). Now adding frames to make the whole page neater and nicer to use, a big thanks to Barry Billenge for the help with the Frames HTML code, Cheers Barry. Expect the web site to be up and down quite a bit whi
lst I fiddle and change a few things around, hopefully it should be a lot better afterwards. Any comments email them to myself at
graeme@the-crow.co.uk

Added 1st CD of Pacific Coast Micro database to filebase. 630+ MEG of files added. Some files are missing descriptions, but I will fix that when I have the time.

Modem has now been changed to a more reliable model (hopefully). System is now using a new SupraExpress 56e modem. Tests have seen it connect to other systems at 33600 baud consistently. Hopefully this should meen better and more reli
able access for system users.
